This locality, 20 Km. far from Munich is known by the concentration camp, although it was also residence of Bavarian Dukes. We arrived in the S-Bahn and then we took a bus to the camp.

Himmler, then the Munich police head, selected this place to construct the first nazi concentration camp in 1933. It was neither so important nor horrible as Auschwitz or Buchenwald . From the 200.000 interned people, 32.000 death to starvation, or due to illness, torture or executions. The camp was liberated in 1945 by American troops.

Before this liberation some escaped prisoners and some free citizens made an attempt to expel the Nazis from Dachau . They failed and all of them died.
We entered the barracks were they crammed the Jewish and the crematorium where the showers occulted the gas chambers. You feel horrified with the size of the camp. A video and a museum complete the visit that, despite the bad sensations you experience, you feel that is something you have to know.
