BRIENZ
Dispensable Worthwhile Very recommendable Marvel

This village is located at the extreme of the Brienz's lake, 15 min. distance from Interlaken by train.

There are picturesque wooden rustic houses and the wooden sculpture workshops are scattered everywhere. However, the lake is the spot that attract the attention.

I haven't ever seen a water colour like this. It is an intense and clean blue, so we couldn't avoid the temptation of refresh our feet in the cold water. The lake is surrounded by mountains that add more charm even. The walk along the shore is a present for the sight. The Thun's lake, at the other side of Interlaken, has the same colours. Most routes in train from Interlaken have to outskirt these fantastic lakes.

Brienz

In Brienz you can find accommodation instead of in Interlaken, and you can start many excursions. Among the possibilities you can go to Meiringen, where Arthur Conan Doyle made Sherlock Holmes die when he fell at the Reichenbach waterfalls, pushed by professor Moriarty. However the readers asked the writer for more adventures, so Doyle had to resurrect the detective. In Meiringen they show a reconstruction of his dining room at Baker street, London.
