We were approaching the Highlands , the mythic Scottish land. The landscapes are more and more amazing. The road between Fort William and Eilean Donan's castle is indescribable. We stopped very frequently to enjoy the views .
After a bend we reached an unusual landscape. The castle raises in the middle of a lake (the lake is directly linked to the sea), and it is connected to the land by a bridge. It is a stronghold from the 13th century erected to defend from the Scandinavian pirates.
In 1719 it was devastated and in 1932 they rebuilt it according to the original drafts. It was the see of the McRae clan, but you will know it because it is the castle of the film "The Immortals". We didn't visit the inside.
The scenery is absolutely romantic, maybe among the best of Scotland, and it invites to walk along the surroundings.
We continued driving throughout the coastline road towards the nearby Skye Island.
