Fort William is a tourist village nearby Glencoe and Ben Nevis, the highest summit in the British islands (1344 m.).
It is a relaxing place, with a pedestrian street crammed with tourist and souvenir shops. The street drives to a beautiul square that houses the church and the city hall. In the midle of the square there is carefully cut grass where the families and the children play.golf!!

Scotland is the country where the golf was invented, and opposite to other European countries, this sport is not for rich people, but for everyone including children.
Basically Scotalnd is a paradise por golf players. There are around 500 courses, many of them hundreds of years old. In Saint Andrews you find the most ancient. These kind of ancient and select golf courses keep a rigorous tradition and history.

The courses show a perfect state as it rains so many days throughout the year, and they are located in wondeful landscapes such as coasts, lakes or historical cities.
According to the tradirion the golf seems to be inventen by some Scottish sepherds that had fun by hitting stones or sheeps' shit with their sticks, trying to introduce it in the madriguera conejo. Its popularity reached so much success that James II banned playing golf because it distracted the soldiers form the military training, from 1457 to 1502. Mary Stuart was a fanatic of this sport.

From Fort William you can try some excursions, such the ascension to the Ben Nevis, focas seeing, the steam train to Mallaig, the tren to Crianlarich and many walks and trekking.
After contemplating this calm atmosphere, with people shopping without any hurry or playing golf at the squre, we left towards Skye isalnd and the Eilean Donan castle.
