INVERNESS
Dispensable Worthwhile Very recommendable Marvel

It is a pleasant town, ideal to make excursions to the Highlands since it is the capital. To the east there are several close castles. There are many bed & breakfasts and we booked one at our arrival, in the morning.
Inverness hasn't got many things to see, but it invites to walk and relax after the daily excursions. It is very tourist and it keeps many restaurants.

Inverness town hall

I must emphasize High Street , a shopping street that is surrounded by the most ancient streets and buildings (18th and 19th centuries). The city hall is very elegant, from the 19th century and Gothic style. There are a couple of museums about the Highlands. In this city there was the MacBeth's castle but another from the 19th century substituted it.
MacBeth (1005-1057) was a Scottish nobleman who killed the king Duncan, in order to take revenge, since the king assassinated the first husband and the father of his wife, but in addition MacBeth aimed the throne in secret. He reigned for 17 years until Duncan's son killed him.

It is difficult to know if this character existed or not because much has been written about him. Taking into account the previous chronicles, Shakespeare immortalized it with his play "MacBeth".
The other wonderful spot is the river Ness , that divides in two the town. The views are charming and there is a suspension bridge. The sunset is magnificent.
We had a Scottish meal for dinner, concretely the tasteful haddock. We also enjoyed the cheesecake. We had a night walk along the river and we went to sleep to the B&B.
