OBAN
Dispensable Worthwhile Very recommendable Marvel

As I have already explained, the trip towards the north was accompanied of an excellent weather. We were lucky because if you allow me to choose, I prefer a good weather when I visit landscapes and nature, instead of the cities. The nasty weather in Edinburgh was a minor evil.

Oban

The road towards Oban is really wonderful. You reach at once the lake Lomond (Loch Lomond) , the biggest in Scotland. The narrow road outskirts the water and shows superb views. Throughout pretty landscapes we arrived to this village .

Oban is a charming spot near the sea. From its harbour several excursions leave towards the different islands, such as Iona , Mull or Staffa. The village keeps a peculiar replica of the Roman Coliseum at the top of the slope, that the banker McCaig built in the 19th century. We didn't ascend to see it.

We had an appetiser while we walked and after a while we left to Glencoe.
